hey up mate im also preparing a mini for a r1 engine we should have a line up of mini r1s there must be a few out there by now, ive been lookin at a turbo kit for it.a cost of £2499! might be worth a dabble! wehey! how far have you got now? have you got all the loom fitted between injection engine to mini loom?

Hi Dean

The turbo conversion is something I would suggest you leave until you get the car running and decide it's not quick enough......... :fear:

Have you been in a standard R1 powered mini? Were your first thoughts "hmmmm not really quick enough this....." ? If so, your nuts! :saywhat:

The bike loom we sent to Z-cars who removed all the unwanted parts and modded it so that we were left with a few simple cables to connect (starting cct, battery conns etc etc).

Good luck with yours

Thanks... Yeah this thread is a bit long.... :fear:

Only thing I haven't got yet is a bloody circlip for retaining the clutch arm!!!! Yamaha are being very slow supplying one but won't tell me what size it is!

Only 12p but causing me grief!!! Might just end up buying a selection and hoping I get the right one! :nugget:

The injection engines are basically a bit pokier and generally run better because of all the sensor and monitoring systems.

Yes Dale I will be getting the car weighed

General update.

Saturday.

Decided the front wheel bearing weren't up to scratch so had to change them aswell as all the other jobs we had to do!

Perspex hadn't turned up so have had to fit old rear screen and leave side windows

Had some clutch adjustment issues and throttle sticking probs.... got most of those kinda sorted and had first couple of tentive runs up the road!!

Sunday

Spent all day doing little jobs aimed at getting it finished and road worthy!

Pics and video's to follow :cheese: Going for dinner so will post them later
