yer, take your time... slow right down, wait for the right mini to come along, or you will regret it.

Keep you're eyes on you're local free ad papers and auto trader etc. Get the Mini Magz as soon as they hit the shops (you never know you might find one in there that's not going for silly money).

Best of all keep a look out for the little old lady who wants to sell her mint and barely used Mini and doesn't want much for it. Well miracles do happen sometimes?

Alexcrosse is dead right and don't jump for just anything, because you might regret it later. So when the right Mini does turn up, get someone who knows them inside out and backwards to give it a good looking over.

Good luck and I hope you find the Mini of you're dreams and get heavily addicted like most of us here.

:D

Surely you must be able to find some for under 1500 nearby? Why can't you travel far? I travelled 90 miles to get mine, from Leeds over to Lancaster, on a Sunday, by trains & coaches...!

Consider lowering your price range to allow you to travel further to pick one up, or save up a bit more to afford transportation.

Simon2007, what are you after... you never know, may stuble across one ( or know somone who could put one together )

I assume, 998 manual, as near std as possible, priced upto 1500 with new mot and maybe tax ?

Haha, I KNEW I recognised the car in your sig from somewhere. (I'm from Lancaster by the way)

Some pics of your car in there from before you owned it I believe.

Back on topic: I also am struggling to find a mini around my local area, but as these guys say, wait and you'll find one that's worth having.

There are still GOOD bargains out there you know. I'd certainly say that £1500 will buy a good mini in fully roadworthy condition with MOT and tax. It just depends on where you look and how patient you are I guess.

Good luck with the search, but as Jammy has said, maybe it's worth spreading your search and looking further a field?

Well the years you've chosen are the final years of 998cc engine production (ended in 1992) and from late 1988 all models got equipped with a brake servo.

So yes I'd say that's a very good choice but don't forget about the many limited editions that popped up during those years too and of course there's also the Mini City which will also be very nicely equipped during those years too.

Basically don't be too choosy, otherwise you may never find the right Mini and you could let slip a very nice example simply because you're holding out for one particular model.

you know, i really don't like that, as you are ripping somebody off, a little old lady. there IS a difference between a good bargain, and taking a car worth ALOT more than you paid for it...your not slick or clever, you took advantage of somebody who doesn't know better.
by the way, this isn't directed at you taffy, just a general rant that is now over :D

dude check autotrader every few days, check there mag and the website.

Check mags and specalists (also check their sites) Ebay is also good ,if you dont wish to buy on ebay msg a esller for a private viewing.

The bargin pages, local papers and free ads are your best bet tho. Theres a dozen different ones in almost every week around here.

For a best buy you wana go look around and find a mini sitting on a drive which looks unloved then ask them about it, 90% the time they just wana get rid of it but not scrap it. Thats how i found mine, mate toby found his and another mate almost got his (all within 1mile of my house)
