Well when we fitted this one we started putting it in around 10ish and had it running by about 230-300 if I remember rightly.
But it's just gutting! :'( there's always a risk buying a secind hand engine but ffs!!! no luck at all!

How are you fitting it?
Car jacked right up and lift it upwards from underneath or lift engine and lower into the frame??
Just curious!!!

Pete,
could it be something fairly simple like the cam chain tensioner, or am I being too optimistic? Hope it doesn't turn out to be a bag of spanners. I suppose the point is that you've bought the engine in good faith, and therefore you shouldn't have to mess about with it at all.
Good luck with it.

The engine was lifted over and down into place.
Apparently the noise is coming from the gearbox. When we first had it running there was a very slight noise that we both noticed. Apparently it's the same just louder. Also he tried a reletivley quick start and it just bogged... wouldn't pull away quick at all :'(

Spoke to the guy I got it from today and looks like he will stand by his warranty. Going to run it up to a local yamaha dealer to see if they know what it is. Hopefully something simple so I don't have to take it out again.
The engines light enough that I can lift it in and out on my own. The only bad point is that to remove the chain you have to undo the sprocket from the engine first. Then release the chain tensioners to give you enough movement.
I think that if it has to come out again then it will go into hibernation for a while. The minus is being delivered Monday so I will have something else to play with. Thats as well as building an extension to the garage to keep it in.

Got the mag today, haven't read it yet (going to on the long trip to Cheltenham tomorrow), but scanned through it. Two fantastic cars you've built there Pete, can't wait to see this next minus if its going to be anything like these two!
Any updates with your pickup yet?
