Unwanted Minis

heard from my friend this morning, she said the owner had been paid on insurance so was not intitled to claim the car back, the police found no evidence to suggest the car was an actual ringer, except for the personal item found, and no evidence to suggest that she or the previous owner had any knowledge that it was or ever had been stolen.
She was given the car keys picked the car up on friday. Like the cheeky devil she is, she rang the alledged last owner and told him.
He said he wanted the car back whatever and offered her what she paid for it, being a sly fox she said she paid £5500 for the car as she had thought it was her old mini when she bought it.
SO on monday night armed with his £5500 the guy came and took the mini, my friend not being one to waste time, has last night bought an old MK 1 cooper for £7500 from a relative, she said its really gorgeous and recently restored but the owner is losing his eyesight so wanted a good home asap.
RESULT!

And the guy who owned the Mini previously had had his car stolen and has now lost a further £5500?

so she's just made £3500?

well he was paid out by his insurers, an undisclosed amount. She just gave him a figure off the top of her head, not expecting him to say yes, but he did. I assume he bought it back with the insurance money.
I think she deserves a little compensation for all her trouble, including 3 interviews lasting a total of 9 hours in the police station! and twice being arrested.
It has caused alot of embarrasment for her. A new car i just what she needs

Fair enough, she's been through stuff with the police..... but £3500 worth? No chance.
meh
glad he's got his car back though. i just hope he's not a member on here and reads this.

i'm sorry - i just feel sorry for the guy! He's the one who had his car stolen in the first place and has gone through all the carp with the police and insurance. If anything, he deserves something out of it - not a bumped up price. It was obvious he'd pay the asking price, if it was his little baby and he wanted it back.

I agree
You have to feel sorry for this poor sod.
Not only has he had his car stolen but he's been ripped of as well
