Hi guys, this has probably been covered a million times but my searches keep coming out with random and unrelated topics.

Firstly, my mini is a 94 mini 35(called dixie). What can i do to get a better sound and (possibly) performance from her without spending hundreds, because i'm poor at the moment
I want a K&N(or similar) air filter but i'm not sure which size i need
Any other sugestions would be great
Cheers guys

Give the car a full service. that is a good way of getting a bit of performance!!

a mini 35 would have be spi injection i think so i would have a look on minispares and go for the one that is for that.

Not all 35's are injection, in fact I believe most manuals are carbed....

The exhaust system on that era of mini is fairly decent, but does have a cat, replacing the the system from the down pipe backwards would certainly help the tone and performance, but may have an adverse affect on the emissions, something you would need to check with a local MOT station..

A good option is to replace the stock paper filer with a K&N replacement, this is installed into the plastic air box and there is not a lot of difference between that and a pan filter on the carb (if it's carbed).

As above tho... give it a good service, new plugs, leads, oil etc

Just to clarify, she is carbed.

I was going to buy a K&N cone filter for her but i'm not sure if i need the 1.5 or 1.75 (i think those are the sizes)

SINGLE POINT INJECTION K&N AIR FILTER
(minispares) gives a bit more growl.

other than that a new exhaust =]

you dont want an spi filter on a normal carb.. lol.. as stated above ETC its carb'd

rob is it a 1275??

if so it should have a hiff 44 carb on it.. meaning a 1.75 filter needed

The Mini 35 LE will have a HIF38 carburettor fitted, so you want this K&N cone filter: -

Oh and as it's a carburettor equipped Mini, you can ditch that power sapping catalytic converter and if you want cool looks with a great sound and first class quality and service, then just get in touch with these people and let them sort out all you're exhaust needs: -

Then that got fitted afterwards, because only the 1990 RSP Mini Cooper LE and the 1990/91 Mainstream Mini Cooper got the HIF44 carburettor as standard.
