hello all

i want to fit quick relese bonnet catches to my mini, with the spring loaded ones buy the windscreen and straps buy the lights and grille.

first question is the metal plates to hold the bolts that go through the bonnet by the windscreen! is it possible to rivet these in place or do they have to be welded in?

second, has anyone ever heard of leather straps by the lights failing? if the straps are renued every so often it should be ok yea!
