Hi
I want to buy a Mini Cooper and have it modified for better performance, Im willing to spend up to £5,000-6,000 on the modifications
Im deciding between a late model MPI Sports and have a Vmax Scart supercharger conversion, or an older model with a 1380-1430 engine with performance cylinder head, cams etc...
What do you think will be a better option since I will be driving the car regularly so I need the car to be very drivable in traffic and want to have the least trouble with the car, no overheating etc..
Is the Vmax Supercharger a pain or is it reliable?
Any advice will be appreciated

Ooow, you want a just tweak performance or race car for the road?
If you got that sort of money just get a super charger from vmax then take an MPi engine, bore it out add all the bits you want then bolt it in.

You say you will be using it regularly and want least trobule - that means avoid anything bored higher than a 1380 as the rebuild frequency will need to be very high. A highly tuned 1380 will still need 'frequent' rebuilds. Do as Adam says and stick a supercharger on it. Possibly bore to 1293 - keping the compression ratio low is also advisable.
Do some searching on what people typically replace when they fit chargers

Thanks for your advice, I think Im going with the supercharger option and maybe bore the engine to 1293cc, as where I live is very high from sea level, the supercharger will make up for that loss in power.
Which is the best option for superchargers?
