well i have been thinking about when i rebuild or replace the 998cc engine in my mini.

the way i see it i can two ways, well lots of ways but these are the 2 i like best. they are:

supercharge or bmw 16v head convo with kit from Specialist compoinents(i like their stuff alot!!)

anyway it may be on the 998 engine or if i can get one a 1275(or whatever it is bored to)

what are your thoughts on the 2 conversions?

not really sure which way to go.

basically HELP

supercharged 998 man...with a whole set up to go with it, it'd be good stuff.

normally i would say small bore.... but theres an awful lot of highways in the states, the extra power and torque from a big bore might come in handy

I remeber being told that the BMW K head will not go on the 998, will go on 850 or 1275

You can put the BMW 8v head on the small bore engines and you're lookin at around 100bhp or so from it with great pull from low down. John is also working on a supercharger conversion for the BMW heads as well, so why not have both?

I've found when rebuilding my engine I go right off my drive then right again at the mini roundabout, that's the way to the nearest cashpoint :-

hmmm 998 with a BMW head and a supercharger! Sounds like my ultimate set up.

If you've got the money boo do both on the small bore it would be amazing!

Go 16v with individual throttle bodies on a slightly tuned 1275. That way you will have a nice chunk of power but also keep a wee bit of reliability. :-

hmmm i didn't think about reliability. Guess a supercharged 988 with a bmw head wouldn't be very reliable :-

Looking for economy then? Or a balance between economy and performance?

1275 I reckon mate, the extra torque will be useful on the highways (as minimarco said).
