These days i wouldn't be so sure. Metro Turbos for spares are a bit thin on the ground :!:

Still cheaper than attempting to find a supercharger that will fit a mini. Okay you can use a the BMW charger with alot of fiddling but still a metro or 5Gt turbo are easier to find.

from what ive seen the bmw supercharger conversions pretty easy to get hold of, and with a turbo theres the large cost of a mirage manifold, im just trying to ballence out cost to power and acceleration gained so i can start collecting bits.

A what with the who manifold? Just take a stock metro setup and use that.

I mean if your going to be cheap about it. With the BMW conversion you got to hack away some of the front valance as well as set injection up (only seen it on one car, had injection insted of a carb, but it was done with a pair of jets where a car would normally be....unless it was NOS).

I posted this in the tubo section a couple of days ago, but it seems relavent to this thread.

This is how I converted my mini to turbo, it cost me about £750 in total, but I had a few bits in the garage that came for free. I reckion with some shrewd buying it could be done for £1k. This is a similar price to the Jonspeed conversion, but mine has more power, more potential for more power and is better made (IMO). I also get 38 to the gallon without trying and you won't get that out of a supercharger conversion! I'm not a big supercharger fan.

If you want bang-per-buck, turbo's the way to go. Granted you might have to buy the Mirage manifold if you don't want to chop the bulkhead but other than that everything for the turbo is cheaper than the equivalent with a supercharger, and with the turbo you get just as much performance it's just delivered in a different manner.

It's a manifold produced by Mirage that will fit into the engine bay and position the turbo in such a way that no body/chassis modifications are required. No turbo box in the bulkhead, etc. Only problem is, they're fairly pricey!

its a specially developed exhaust manifold/turbo elbow/ downpipe made from stainless that lets you fit a T2/T25 in any mini without having to do any bulkhead mods. costs £350 inc vat and postage and is available from www.miragemotorsport.com

heres the one i bought from roofless on here.
