i crashed my new car
it slid in to a curb near my dads house at around 20-25 mph straight in to the wheel, and its ripped the front subby off its mounts and put everything out of place, the rad is now about 6 inches away from where it should be
now the grey car has to be put on hold AGAIN so i can try and srape the cash together to fix my car.
i've had a poo last few months, hopefully it'll get better soon

I am soooo *Drunk or yellow human water*, its going to cost too much to fix so now my practicly new car with only 10k on the clock is going to be broken up for spares, unless i can by some miracle work something out.
if not, keep an eye out for a whole cars worth of stuf with only 10k on them.

apparently not, they want to charge £500 to strip it out at the front so they can find out all the damage, the floor pan is bent i think, and the say they had a similar one while ago with a final bill of around £2000, thats not including the £500 they want to strip it down, thats £2500 which is way too much. i'm considering getting it towed to another garage for a second opinnion because it seems so expensive.
if they say the same then its rip for the mini

Ouch. Strip the front?

Have you got any pictures, then we can see the damage and u can get opinions if the garage is ripping you off.

Don't strip it for spares! That car was mint..!

Worst comes to the worst it's a new front subframe, and a few panels? Bend the floor back a bit, and it should be fine.

Is this an insurance job, or you having to fund it yourself... ?

Also, if the subframe has moved, then it's quite likely that the bulkhead has bent, as it's gonna take some real force to rip the tower bolts out.

Got any pics... ?

But always get a second opinion on the work.

two and a half grand...you did tell them that you didn't want the solid gold sub frame didn't you???? and five hundred to strip the front down sounds steep also, something like that shouldn't take you more than a day to do (stripping it, that is) , then trailer it round to the garage. get a second opinion definitley. commiserations mate

that quote was with the gold plated diamond encrusted front subframe
i think i'll take it somewhere else and get another opinion, i really dont want to lose this car, i was told a recon subframe would be £200 that is a rip off so i think that garage is not the place to go, the only reason i took it there is because they are a mini specialist (alledgedly) and so i thought they might know what to look for.
i would do it myself but i have just started the practicle part of my nurse training so i'm doing 5 days a week in a nursing home and the other two are pretty much taken up by essay writing.
if i can find some time, maybe doing three 12 hour shifts instead of 5 shorter ones then i could try and do it my self.
when i go and get the car i'll get some piccys, i reckon that as the subframe is rubber mounted the damage can't be as bad as what these guys say it is, as i said i was only going about 20mph.
any way, thanks for the advice guys

£500 to strip it down my arse. It only takes around 2-3 hours to get the engine out. At this price, they must be charging an hourly rate of around £150 per hour taking into consideration the rest of work needed. GET THAT SECOND OPINION.

Had the exact same problem myself!! Only it was a big pot hole in the road that caused the damage to mine, so far its had:

New Front sub-frame Plus anchilleries £200
New Steering Rack £40
New Wheel Bearings £16
New Cv Joints
New Top and Bottom Arms
New Engine Mounts
New Sub-frame Mounts
All New Seals
Main charge was fitting

And at the moment i'm having the gearbox replaced as it appears the damaged wasnt only limited to the structure of the car, it had also damaged the diff and has now caused me to have a new box as it was found out that there was a crack in the casing. All thats left now is the bulk head and i'm hoping that it is ok as it will mean a lot of work.

So far i have spent around £700 plus i got to pay for the fitting of the gearbox yet so could easily reach the 1k mark.

Hope you get yours sorted mate, all i can suggest is going to a local mini club and asking members if they know of any local garages that would undertake the work. I would say that the quotes you have obtains so far are a little extorsionate and i would imagine that you will find someone whos a lot cheaper.
