hi people i am having real problems with my wiring.

after frying the main battery lead on the manifold and then replacing it the car ran fine. but 2 weeks later racing a subura through the twistys i geared down into second and lost all power.

with new points and condensor the car fired up and ran like a dream so eager a possible i jumped in and went for a drive ( very short 1 at that) 1 mile down road it died again so managed to get a tow home and decided to change all the electrical system

after new coil points condensor plugs leads dizzy cap and a new vacuum unit the car will not fire and there is no spark.

had 2 people look at it now and it is baffling everybody

I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!

What state is the battery in?

Have you checked the electrical connections and fuses?

Take the HT lead from the coil off at the dizzy end, earth it against the block and see if you have a spark coming from the coil.

If you do its something forward of the coil (dizzy, points, sparkies, etc), if not start looking at the coil, connections to coil, etc.

you set the gap on the plugs? 25thou...

if the coil works then check the plugs each the same way....

my mate just changed the same and two plugs were duff and two leads each to diff cyls.....hence no startin!

ok have tried this and there is no spark with the ignition turned on so will try a new coil again.

the wires that run to the coil give off 12 volts but when they are connected to the coil they only give off 6 volts

You have to get someone to turn the engine over whilst you try the HT lead against an earth on the engine, it won't do anything with just the ignition on. I had pretty much the same problem as you yesterday, after trying 2 different coils, turned out the dizzy cap and rotor arm had burnt out. Have you tried a new rotor arm as well?

im also having the same problem with my mini park lane.

starts one min, didnt do anything then next min, wont start.

there is fuel going to the carb, plugs are a little wet. just no sparks on any of them.
changed the spark plugs too, so will probably get some new ones aswell to test again.

so im thinking the coil, or the leads from the distributer, the cap is fine, almost new, and was cleaned.
same with rotorary arm.

when it runs its fine, so i need to work out this sparking problem aswell.
