ive been told 2 pot iron standard brakes are just as good and more rigid than 4 pot alloy brakes. which brake setup should i go for to run with a swiftune 1380 road engine?
thanks

Moved to Technical.
4 pot alloy brakes are technically the better brakes, although standard 2 pots with decent pads and discs will be capable of stopping your mini.

well iv just changed from standard 2 pot and solid discs to a KAD 4 pot set up with drilled/groved vented discs and to be honest, there's not much difference for normal driving. you get more control i think, but my rears are still locking before the fronts have had chance to work propperly (as before i changed).
The big difference is the lack of break fade, with the standard breaks if you drive it HARD, constant accelerating and hard breaking (ie country lane screwing or a trackday) you will notice the breaks will feel spongy and not responsive, this is effect is drastically reduced with the 4 pot set up... although it must be said that it has nothing to do with the calipers and more to do with the vented disc....
so in conclusion... sort your break bias out and you'll be stopping quicker than me and for a lot less money
they do look nice tho

Alloy calipers should have a bigger impact on the suspension (unsprung weight) than on the braking.

I have done a fiesta caliper conversion and they seem to be better than the original 2 piston setup on 8.4s!!

ive changed to turbo 4 pots as i was sick of warping std discs, using brembo not cheapies!
theres a major difference!
ok i warped a cheap set of 'ebc' or so i was told.... got some johnspeed drilled + grooved and ther amain, coupled with greenstuff pads ther unbeatable, never had rears lockup at all, others must not be setup correctly, or have diff bias to the rear....
