Still on the prep getting towards spraying. I have been looking around for a lead based filler to use over some of the welding on the car. But having gone round a few shops in my area they don't seam to know what I'm on about. Is it good stuff to use and if so where on earth do you get it from? Is it worth just using normal filler??

I use this for going over any welds on my own stuff, not lead, but pretty good stuff. CLICK ME! thanks.
This is what I'm thinking of cheers panelbeaterpeter. I've read about lead loading but not what I'm after. Just the filler with metal flakes in it to give strength and run a magnet over it and it sticks.

Better add that into any faq about what to beware of when buying a mini!Just the filler with metal flakes in it to give strength and run a magnet over it and it sticks.

a maget won't stick to that stuff, it's aluminuin flakes
Ah very true. I've got another question though. Been looking at the welding done on the car and noticed while looking from inside to out you can see light between the door step panel and the outter sill (looking through the hole to spray waxyoil) How do I remedy this. Do I fill with a sealant or what????

Harder than ordinary body filler, definately a skill worth learning though, not many folk about anymore who can do it.
Just one of the many techniques that used to be used in bodywork. Wish there was somebody about old enough and wise enough to teach me some of those things!
