Put an ad in the wanted section for some old door cards. I scrapped about 3 sets out of my Mini City's. People cant even give them away these days!

Get a set then you have templates! :)

Dude, going by measurements isn't a good idea. are you planning on making your own door cards then?
They can only be so thick because there is a lip along the top of the door they slot under. Id just stick it out until you have your car. OR get a proper door card to go by.

I was going to make mine myself thinking "how hard could it really be?".

It looks easy but as said before, you've got to work out the correct thickness of the board to fit under the lip. You'll want to put some foam inbetween the board and the covering, and you'll have to get the door furniture holes in the right place not to mention the holes for all the clips. When I spoke to the guys from Minitrimmings at the SMD show, they explained exactly how they made them and I realised I was taking on too much and handed over my money for some of theirs.
And you can guarantee they didn't get it right on their first attempts.

And... if you haven't got your car yet, you won't know what colour to do the interior. What if you make red doorcards and then find the mother of all bargains on a pair of blue bucket seats?

Ah, im making mine currently:) I have done the front's, its just the backs that take some time. I made one for the back out of mdf, but it was really hard to get in, and i had to keep trimming it JUST TO GET IT IN there. But once it was in there, it looked a little crappy because of the trimming. So it takes some time be warned. Its not just as easy as copy the original and install:P

Rear door cards are bar-stewards!
I re-covered mine, and unless you spread glue allover the card the covering goes baggy when you put the card back in as the rear door cards bend slightly inwards. (or mine did anyway).

Front door cards I re-covered myself, it was tricky to get the cloth to sit tightly over the entire card as you have to cut and pull it through for the window winder hole. then glue it in place on the back of the card without pulling creases into the front.

Its rewarding though. :)

Although Id sooner get a set of black vynal ones now with the red beading along them. Stock parts = win.
I suppose in just becoming a boring old car driver now. Im not a fan of after market parts anymore, They look tacky to me.

But hey thats me, I drive a 206 GTi and I ride a CBR400. Im mini-less at the moment.
Although when I move back to Cyprus, safety laws aren't really an issue out there so I will be building a crazy roofless mini! aha :D

RUST FREE too :P
