but mini sport do the race camshafts on there own, would it be cheaper to get the one from mini sport and then buy the shims and valve springs separate? or just buy the full piper package from avonbar?

i agree! my sw5 is absolutely brilliant! 58.9 bhp from my tuned 1046! dont bother with minisport cams as they are craaaaap and avonbar are a tad pricey for what they are.Sw5 from Swiftune is classed as one of "the best".

The cams you have quoted are racing cams made by Swiftune. If your on the road, the cams I'd personally look at are;
MSPD Ph2
MSPD ph3
SW5-07
SW10
Kent 286
Depends what you want in all honesty as the "racier" you go, the more of a pig it'll be to drive. It also depends what the rest of the set up is, for example, if you choose to go for a 286, it'll be pointless with a standard head.
As you can see I've coloured the cams above, the green ones, are true road cams, designed to give alot of grunt, and "pulling away" power. The SW5-07 is the "best" road going camshaft to have. With a 1380, a nicely worked head, and a decent build to suit, you'll get around 80-100bhp and up to 100ft/lb of torque. Whereas a Kent 286 - a street racer's favourite, these don't really like to work well until your RPM's are around 2500-3000 (depending on spec) so great for straight line, fast cornering - but pretty pointless for "first off the line" driving.
If you could provide a "spec" to your ideal engine, I am sure one of us can advise a cam for your spec, and your type of driving. But I think in all honesty the SW5-07 will do everything you can ever want it to be. Swiftune quote "The SW5-07 produces MORE power than a 286 below 6000rpm, and when do you ever go above 6000rpm in a road car?"

What sort of driving will you be mainly doing? Town, Motorways, mixture of both (choose the one you MAINLY do)
With the spec you have listed, with a decently work 12G940 head, why not consider the MG Metro cam? You can pick them up most places for around £10-£20 in good nick too. Remember that the MG Metro 1275 (on paper) produces 70bhp, and 68ft/lb torque, so makes an ideal pokey motor. With the addition of a light weight flywheel, a 1.3:1 set of rockers, and a single HIF44 or a nice set of Twin HS4 SU's it'll be a right pukka motor
