Thanks Sproket! (Think i just watched your RR on Youtube just now!!)

I see what you are saying....think im going to stick with 1293cc though and see if i can work a turbo in at a later date....

Ok, heres me putting my idea out there...im thinking of running the following(for the time being!):

- 1293cc block with the dished pistons and crankshaft thats in it already
- SW5 Cam(purely because of what i've read, they seem to be the option)
- 12G940 head, polished and ported
- 1"3/4 SU Carb
- Stage 1 Kit (K+N Pancake Air Filter, LCB, 2" exhaust system and Carb Needle)

Will it run ok like this? Or should i wait and put the 1.5 roller rockers in??Also, i know the K+N isnt the best option, i'll be changing that back to standard with holes drilled in the airbox or even fabricating my own induction kit type effort to bring the filter down toward the grill.

will run ok really whatever spec you choose,

that seems a good setup though, the rollers can be 'dropped' on at a later time though! just need settin up, not a big job as ther on top of the engine,

id reccommend double valve springs though....

the 1293 is a +.20 thou rebore after that you can go.........+.40, +.60 73.5mm and lastly 74mm pistons

as you can see if you go 73.5 theres only one left unless you get a new block if the walls collapse etc...

i hav the 74mm pistons went straight out from a 1275 and had linings fitted to stop them collapsing(hopefully)

Cool....think i'll go with that for starters!

What sort of HP should i expect, im guessing around 70-80 at most??

What difference will the roller rockers make when i add them later??

There actually is double valve springs in the 12G940 head i got....!

Speaking of the head, took it to 2 different engineering firms this morning to see about polishing and porting, BOTH WERE CLOSED!!!!

Thanks

do it yourself, its simple just smooth all the rough parts, open out the ports to your inlet manifold size and give it all a good clean...

I dont have the tools to try it!! I could get my hands on a Dremel, it would suit, wouldnt it???

I dont think its a good idea for me to root at the head with a powertool....!!!

"Chemical Cleaning" of an engine...anyone have it done, how much did it cost?Cheers

a dremel is ideal for doing headwork, make sure you get all the different grinding heads, the cone shaped ones are especially useful for doing the edges of the chambers, and the cylindrical ones are great for doing the ports. Its much easier if you can get the flexible drive extension, as its nice and narrow and its almost like grinding with a marker pen! Sometimes you can get a deal which includes the dremel, loads of grinding and cutting things and the flexible extension, last time i got one from robert dyas with all those bits for £50
