I've had it suggested to me, to go over the car with a clear coat, now when the car is wet it does look nice and shiney so is a clear coat likely to give me the shine back, or am I still best trying again with the Mach 5 ??

thanks for all the help

I'd just crack on with the mac, a good coat of that would do the same as one of clearcoat.

Well even though wasn't best weather this weekend, we decided to plough on and give it a go...

Tried all the above 20% thinners 30 psi with trigger pressed, 1.4 nozzle.. hardly any paint was coming out the gun no matter how we adjusted, more pressure did make the paint flow but we'd already been there on previous attempts so wasn't happy.

Decided to go 50 : 50 with the thinners, 30 psi trigger pulled..and

yippee paint actually looked wet going on, it was spreading as we sprayed and blending as we went.roof is at last a consistant texture and its shining. we've masked the roof off to avoid overspray and repsrayed the rest of the car using the same technique..going to leave it a week now before flatting down the rest of the car and G3ing.

thanks for the advise :(

Thats good news, iv just repainted my Seicento bumper and used around a 50:50 mix with single pack paint, and gave a great shine too. Look forward to seeing the updates.

We'd got an idea how we wanted it to look pretty much from day one, we were originally going for a darker blue, but after watching the Italian Job a couple of month back decided the Island Blue was the colour for a retro look.

To be honest paint job isn't perfect, but weathers turned now and its shiney so it's going to do for now, may redo it next year.
there's a couple of dry areas and could probably do with a little more flatting to really remove a few orange peel areas.
I'd say I'm 95% happy with the finish

ps thanks for the suggestions to get the finish right, now I've done this one though feel confident could do it again better.
