iapparently have one and someone phoned my up to buy my car and said it cant be a 1293 as even with +60 bore it wouldnt be big enough, is he being dumb. He reckons it would have had the bores taken out and resleived offset in different places.
i reckon it has +20 dished pistons to add 18cc am i correct on this one
how do you make a 1293 engine

1275 rebored to +20 thou is 1293 yes. +40 is 1312, and +60 is 1330cc.

Extra chamber volume isn't part of the swept volume, but yes he's being dumb.
1293 is the smallest re-bore you can easily get pistons for in a 1275, being a plus 20. A plus 60 rebore would be a 1330.
And offset bored, linered cylinders and stuff? Hmmmn, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing sound familiar?

i thought so im gonna take the head off and show him
the +20 pistons do come in to size tho as in the dished part
they do one that gives you 6cc and ones that give you 18cc
so it could be a 1281 or it could even be a 1275 or it could be a 1330
who knows but then who cares

No mate, sorry.
The +20 means they are 20 thou larger in diameter which gives greater swept volume. The dish is not part of the swept volume of the engine, it's part of the combustion chamber volume. The dish is still there at the top of the stroke just as it is at the bottom, so any volume of gasses which are filling the dish at the bottom of the stroke were already present at the top and so have not been drawn into the engine. It's a 1293. Bore and stroke are all you use to calculate volume of an engine, dish volume is part of compression calculations.

i wouldn't mess around taking the head off just to show him, sounds like a lot of hard work to me!! especially as he appears to know f%^&k all about minis, it wouldn't do anyone any good. if he doesn't believe you he can "go and whistle"!!!!!
