Morning all,

Having trouble taking the cowling/facia off my two clock cityE instrument pack, can any one assist me? It's a terrible grey colour so taking it off for spraying.

Have looked in haynes but I think it's lying to me. ;)

Any help would be great,
thanks

Anthony.

Remove the 4 nuts under the bonnet and remove the whole cluster and bracket. Then disassemble as required.

yes, they are just push fits but in reality you will break it by just pulling.

take the whole thing off and dismantle from behind (we had this discussion last week ;) )

Yes don't tug it if it doesn't want to budge because you'll bust the clips and clock fittings behind.

Anyway instead of having to mess around with the bulkhead sound deadening material to get at those screws. You could instead carefully peel back the dash liner each side of the pod (you'll need to remove the air-vent unit on the right hand side first).

Then carefully undo the screws with a small chunky screwdriver (or whatever you have suitable to fit in the small area) and then you can safely lift out the whole fascia from the metal fixing brackets.

You just need to unclip the speedo cable and wires and then undo the little screws that attach the fascia on to the clock fitting. That's if you want to remove it completely to aid painting.

So thats what your supposed to do. I was doing this job today and just gave it a good tug as Im not keeping my gauges. Everything came out intact so Im probably just lucky!

Cheers guys, I ripped the sound deadening out a bit ago so I may try the full jobbie idea.

Yes you were lucky, but if it didn't want to budge and you'd forced it. You would then have broken the fittings and stuff.
