eloo, working on me dash for my clubby 1275gt atm! Now ive got a few pic's on it! currently only cut the shape & the vent holes, now I had a few problammes with the vent holes! well, I aint shore if its a problamme or not to be honest! Im shore how far the dash is actually meant to sit back between the top & bottom dash rails? so the vents are tucked quiet vastly behind the dashboard, Unless I take some more of the top & make the dash so it sits further in, Now for the clocks, im going to cut out a chunk, then go over the top with another bit of wood & cut the shapes into that, because I know the clocks come out further than the dash, it used to have one of those black covers over the top but I dont want that, I want it to look like the one of retrodash, that lad makes some bliinding dash's! Umm like this..

I'm also trying to fit a dash at the moment. How exactly do you move the air vents? :P

Mines really s**t as well, I made the mistake of buying a cheap one and it doesn't fit as well as I'd like it to. I was wondering if it will fit any better if i removed the padding off the dash rails?
Anyone had any similar problems with a cheap dash?

well if it isnt fitting, why dont you cut it down abit? Just take the bottom of alittle with a saw! To make mine fit, I made a ruff fit & then sanded it down till it was perfect, also the air vents Just twist & pull, Just give it a wiggle if they wont come out :P

There's a screw threaded collar round the end of the vents which you'll want to fit your dash behind - if you remove them by the bayonet fitting you won't be able to refit them through the hole in the dash.

If you're doing this from scratch I'd fit a card or hardboard template to work off.

this is what ive done tonight, Made a slot for the clocks to come though & then im gonna cover that with another layer & do the clock holes & indicators on that, as you can see, its sat quiet far behind, so im guessing your right ethel? Lets Just hope I can salvage the vents somehow. I got a few ideas :P + today! I Found new love for the jigsaw, haha, well fun to use. :]

simple way to sort the vents, remove the vents at the bayonet fitting and mount them in your dash board so they sit nice and flush. how you do this is up to you.

now, like you said, you are not going to get the vents back into the bayonet fittings so simply bridge the gap with a short piece of corrugated pipe :P

the dash should hold it all in place.

simple when you know how ;)

On most after market dashboards the air vent is removed from the bayonet fitting, cut down and a piece of flexi pipe the same as is under the N/S wing is used to join the fitting in the inner wing to the cut-down bit in the dash. It does look like you'll have to trim the dash down a little to get it fitting between the dash rails properly - you shouldn't have to remove the trim pads to improve the fit.

Theres usually a glove box hole big enough to get your arm in behind..

I see, so really you do need to make a glove box. sometimes people dont have them, Just wondered how it was done.
