I've got 5

Driver door
Passenger door
Boot
Ignition
Petrol Cap

My old mini had one key plus ignition. I had to replace the driver door on it - got one off the scrappy and my original key still opened and locked it... :erm:

As you go back in time the number of keys decrease, one key will be removed, when a non-locking fuel cap is used, and I think ( Please correct if wrong ) the MK1 with the floor starter shared the same key for the ignition, as for the doors.

Dead on mk2 had 2 keys mk1 had 1

Well i've got:

Steering lock,
ignition,
doors+boot,
battery cut off,
petrol cap.

I think my best key is the battery cut off stop the b******s stealing my car!!!!!!!!!

My door keys work in my brothers MG midget and visa versa.

But if your battery cut off switch is FIA like mine, they are really easy to just jam anything in there and and get an ignition!

I once had a blue clubby estate which had a key for each door, one for ignition and one for the petrol cap, so that had 5 keys and the modified mk1 I've got now has got one for ignition, one for the door and boot and one for each petrol cap (its got twin tanks) so now I've got 4 keys
