As it says, is there a way of getting 100bhp from an A or A+ series engine. I will do the work myself i just need to decide how i will do it.

Any ideas welcome, cheers

I don't believe I have heard 100bhp and lowest cost in the same sentence before.

for that, you want 1380, a 286 and a webber ideally, can be home built for 600ish quid,..

otherwise a 1275 with 50 shot of nitrous, don't expect it to last long, neither will the 1380 with standard gearbox!

good luck matey

cheapest way to get power is with a turbo set up.... plenty of scope for upgrades too, and you can still keep it driveable. U get to a limmit with N/A where anything above becomes undriveable and very expensive. There are plenty of people tho running 150/160bhp turbos with no trouble at all, with comparitively very little cost involved.

I have heard that the turbos take about 30 mins to warm up which is a bit impractical!

Could be a lie just what i have been told

Cheers though all comments welcome :D

Turbo appears to be the way to go, looks like most people agree.

Would you do anything else to a turbo engine?

Cheers, Rhys

Well i don't need more than 100bhp and was thinking of a 73bhp mg metro engine stage 1, stage 3 head fast road cam. Good idea or not?

Cheers

sounds like a good plan, do the cam first, that way you have saved yourself a bit of time in the future as the engine needs to come out to do a cam.
