Why are you against turbo's and chargers?
There is threads on whats needed for forced induction on this site and plenty on TM.

Purple Tom had a Morspeed 1293. Decent pistons, balanced bottom end, Morspeed cam and worked head, can't remember what carbs or rockers he was using but he hit the magical 100bhp figure.
