Know how you feel, had my grandads funeral today. It was nice in its own way, but also heartbreaking. He was like a father to me, as my my mum has been a single mum until last year, and he only lived round the corner.

its been 4 years today to the day that i lost my dad. why do the good ones go?

Just came accross this post............. sorry to hear of your loss and the anniversary - strangely on the 27th Nov 1998 my wife lost her mum, aged 47. And now, 9 years on my own mum has little time left as has effectively lost her long long battle with cancer.

But just like my MIL my own mum has already started to say things like, don't be bitter or sad, just remember all the good times we had (i'm not meaning to rhyme here!) - and i think you have to take comfort from that, some people know their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc for many many years yet have a miserable relationship/time. I'm lucky to have a wonderful mum, if she goes tomorrow i'll be sad, but also proud, fortunate and lucky to have known her and to have had her as my mum. I consider myself far more fortunate even if she is going before her time than many............

Chin up mate,
