Well, last night, Reggie exploded at a club member's house!

The yellow fan has exploded and gone straight through the radiator. Resulting in HUGE amounts of steam coming from the engine.


We have no idea why, though. The water pump is working fine and the fan bolts are all on and in place!


I'm just off to go meet K and start fixing Reggie again.

New radiator. New fan.

Was it a new fan? Or was there a rag in the engine bay?

Has been known to happen, in fact it happened to a friends mini while we had the bonnet up fiddling with the carb . Lets just say I had to change more than just the radiator!!!!!!!!!!!

Minispares sell the genuine version on which the blades to not twist unlike some other repros - got one for mine on the recommendation on Stuart from VMAX.

And to be frank if he said if you wear blue socks you get more horsepower I'd probably believe him.

If he was perfectly behaved he wouldn't be Reggie so at least you know it's still the old fella at heart

We only went over to drop something off. Ended up leaving Reggie on his drive over night!


Reggie's back now though. With a replacement fan and a new radiator.


It was his original fan, I believe, and there's no reason that the blades broke off - We're guessing just old age! But we'll keep an eye on it. It's spinning fine and not catching on anything, so all seems well!


Yikes, shellspeed - From the damage it did to my radiator and the complete mess it made of the street, with all the steam etc - I'd think you're lucky to not have been burnt!

I had a car that ate those fans once - got to be a bit of a running joke after about the fifth one!

On the reversing lamp thing, can you put something in the rear window - high level brake light style?

Although, I work opposite the Malvern showground .... it's Vanfest this weekend!

I got waved at by a load of splitties and bays!!

D'oh! I keep forgetting to update this!



Well, Reggie broke on me again!!

After a bit of an episode trying to get to Stanford Hall, we found that the main fuse & main relay were both blowing. We couldn't work out why! So, I was towed back from Stanford and Reggie sat on the drive for a while as we just didn't have the time to get him sorted!!

Yesterday, however... We found the culprit!

A section of the loom had been rubbing on the clutch master cylinder & worn through the insulation. It was then shorting itself out all the time... which is why it kept blowing the fuse etc!!


So, we've sorted that and he's been to Malvern Mini show and back without a hiccup!


I'm actually in love with him again!

So much so that I bought him a little present... Watch this space, lol

Decided not to bring him to work this morning - His exhaust is sounding a bit farty again!

I'll have another listen to it tonight & might bring him in to work tomorrow!


All thanks to K and K's Dad that I've still got Reggie, really - I'm so grateful for everything that they've done on him.
