Ever fancied a convertible?

Such a shame as it looks pretty tidy elsewhere, curse that vinyl roof ;D

Have a good look at the screen, door, and rear posts as the water will have drained through them. It might be one occasion where a fibreglass panel offers the best solution- getting a weather proof join with steel would be quite a challenge.

ouch, that is nasty!

too far gone at the edges to fit a composite roof skin IMO.

could clean the corners right back, patch from inside and finish with filler. headlining may be awkward to fit.

other option would be a roof transplant from a donor mini, chop at the pillars and rejoin. big job, and hard, but has been done successfully many times before.

you could cut the roof off another rusted mini if its utterly gone and the pillers and such and weld it on however its abit dodjy to do this.

what you could do it weld in plates behind it in the best bend you can find seam weld it from the inside and fill the outside. it looks like its just in the corners where the water has sat, or are there hiden holes elsewhere?

Not dodgy to do this at all if done correctly , in fact it is a lot safer than some of the bodgy "filler in a hole" repairs i have seen over the years , as said though , easiest is to remove headlining and steel weld patches from inside and fill the outside back to its correct profile

Hi

If you had a nice doner vehicle you could cut the corners out and weld....

Done properly it will last years...

Thanks very much for all the posts Girls and Boys

Have given me some very good info...there ant any othe holes hidin jus the ones which you can see on the pic's

the last owner sealed up the drain chanels on the roof hence the holes + a crapie vinny roof too

anyway ve looked to a new roof is a 150 pounds erkkkk.... :) so will go with the cutting after the headinglinner panels and

patch up the holes from the inside then use bodyfilly as some of ya have told me too

will keep ya upto date on the process and show ya the handy work..(Oh my god am going to die using the power tools hehe)

thanks very much agian for :D

I've had to repair the front corner which had rusted away just like yours.

I got myself a corner section cut from a donor shell, I then separated the panels by using a spot weld drill so that I had a corner piece of roof skin. I cut out the rusted section from the car and then cut the "repair" panel to suit (size for size with the hole in the roof), welded it in place and then put a small skim of filler over the weld bead.

Panelled up:

Welded in:

Yours looks pretty bad though! If the gutters dont look too bad I'd really be tempted to drill out the spot welds for the entire roof and buy a whole new panel. Would save loads of grief with patches/filler and would generally be a neater job.

Mart :)

for the amount of time repairing all the patches would probably be harder n take more time then doin the entire roof

ERKKKK i hope its ok for ya..(fingers crossed)... the only reason mine was so bad in the corners

was because the last or last few own's had blocked up the drain holes... hence the holes

silly billys huh... :ermm:

oh and can i ask are you fitting the new headlining?
