i have fitted a set of classic low back cobra style seats...the original seats had headrests and were quite a bit bigger. the cobra ones a quite a bit smaller with no headrests.
i heard that if the original seats had headrests then any replacement seats will also have to have them to pass an MOT?
does anyone know if this is the case.....!?!

They had your pants down if they failed it for not having head rests, it'll fail if the seat back can't be secured in an upright position, or it's insecurely fitted, for example it is only bolted in using the two front mounting with nothing to hold the back bits (unless it's an early one which was like that from the factory) But not having head rests is NOT an MOT reason for rejection, I'm an MOT tester before we get the usual made up answers telling me i'm wrong.

Yes, exactly, so long as it's fitted properly, and in good condition it'll be fine at a reputable MOT centre, classic low back seats are fine, but i stress, fitted securely as i've seen some horrendous attempts. If in doubt make sure they have been fitted using at the very least the original 3 mounting points (two front to crossmember and the latch on to the rail beside the floor tunnel) hope this helps

yeah, makes things clearer! they are mounted on new frame to the 2 front mounting points and the locking rail at the rear, hope this will be alright!
thanks for your help mate!
