Indeed it is my friend, 24 inch version disc and v compatible, although I work in a bike shop I had to buy it off Chainreactioncyles, On One wouldnt deal with my shop.

Had to bring this thread back to life.. Over a month and no replies, this is insane!

Has that guy changed his forks round yet? Must be hitting his feet on the wheel and i'd hate to think of the head angle when those forks compress!

Anyways, i been working on a little biking forum, check it out on www.mrange.co.uk its quiet at the moment but if everyone starts logging on it'll soon get to be something! Covers all riding styles so theres something for everyone.

I'll be working on getting little promotions and stuff for people who do sign up, but its gotta be busier before i can push that further.

I took out a Yeti 575 a short while ago and did a little write up for it, so i'll keep this thread alive by posting it on here (Direct copy and paste from www.mrange.co.uk)

Okay, so today was an 'epic' ride! One that literally blew me away. So much so infact that i seem to have lost all 'descriptive' words from my head!

Firstly, here are some pics of the beast i took out for a good 5 hours or so today!

I had to shoot out this evening to visit family, so i didn't wash the bike properly as you can see! Epic fail there!

Anyway, despite the super tacky minions dragging me up and the RP23 being on locked mode due to the shock being to soft for my weight i had an awesome day!

Wheelbase is long enough to feel planted and comfortable, yet when things get rough and tricky it just eats it up! Took it down one of my favourite fast singletrack lines out of the woods, easily as fast as my old Specialized SX Trail.. yet 4 times better on the flat and the uphill!

Alright so my 'write up' is a bit pants as i'm not a fully paid professional journalist or anything like that!

However, this bike is the kinda mile muncher crew and i've finally discovered in my head whats good and whats bad about the bike.

Whats good is that no matter what your trying to ride the bike tries to give you a nice comfortable ride and never let you down. Because of that you do loose a bit of the 'quick agile' feel when things get a little twisty. Front end wants to come a little loose on the tighter stuff.

Comparing this bike to a Santa Cruz Heckler, its not so rough with you. The Heckler is much stiffer and says "yea, this bit is rough lets just fly at it and have a bloody good time doing so!"

The Yeti, is more like a Mercedes Benz on a cobled street it says "right, this is rough but i will try and make this as comfortable for you as possible"

So, my verdict, if your a freerider at heart and like to blast it hard, get a different bike. If your a guy who goes out for 6 hours just to feel the burn and cover some miles on whatever terrain then this is for you. If your a serious XC racer and want something nice and twitchy and fast, get something a little more race specific.

There we go! Pretty pants write up but its better then nout!

cheers ta me!

Its a really nice steel frame that came with quite a cheap price tag, in my opinion.
Stupid move for on-one to stop producing them but then again i guess it made mine all the more special, really need to ride it some more it hasnt seen the dust for over a year now, any riders on here local to me? Near Kingston Or Richmond.

I think in all the bike set me back about £500, had lots of bits about already, got some bits second hand and gave them a refurb that kinda thing. Glad to hear the gimp still gets some attention and admiration.

Really need to ride more, let me know.

Josh

Anyone get a new bike for/after christmas?

I didn't but i see a few of you did in the ORBT so i thought i'd bump this up for you all to find :-

Haven't been riding in ages to be honest, none of my mates ride and i really hate going out on my own around where i live, mainly because i'd get assulted or something and there isn't anything close to here thats any good.

Will be going to willingham woods soon with my dad though, so i'll be getting my bike ready for that!
