Marin are great bikes to own anywhere in the world. I had a road one for a while 28" Wheels 24 gears Silver and very fast Cost Me about £650 in UK a few years ago.
We do have some good Bike Holidays Here and Cycle Lanes being added all the time.

Thought I may as well stick my 2 up. Started riding gain back in 2008 after a few years off. Bought a £550 Cannondale F5, just to make sure I still enjoying it. Ended up spending close to an extra £2k on doing it up. It's pretty good for a hard tail, just I've started doing little more DH stuff, and that's pretty hard on hard tail, feel every single drop off and jump. So Last week I bought a Trek Remedy 8. Only taken it out the once and that was up to Dalby Forest. It's total class, and is just so fast in comparison to the Cannondale.

Back in the UK next month, it'sw so frustrating not being able to ride. Comparable to not being able to drive the mini.

Yeah, it's the most expensive bike i've bought that doesn't have an engine. In fact, it cost more than my old Gixxer as well lol. Oh well, i'm sure it'll bring hours of fun. Just looking to find another frame for my GF now,and then i'll move all the bits off the cannondale onto it for her.

Not all mountain bikes but a small collection of what i've got at the moment:
GT and Orange are for sale if anyones interested. Pm me. The giant has got a few tasty bits on it now though. And will be going either sram x9 2x10 speed or xtr 10 speed if i can wait for it to come out.

Above i think your GT will go fast.Nice make and shape.Members close to you might post you on friends to ask about it.
The other bikes are all nice quality. If you were in Solihull i would ask about it for family.

Surely x9 is only as good as the XT anyway? Now Sram x0, that looks special
That LTS is proper retro cool. Wish I could buy back my lod Trek SHX 8000. Was fited with Indy SL's, a 3 spoke spin rear wheel and a mavic 217 sunset front rim, and Magura 10th anniversary brkes, which had braded lines and a carbon booster.

and just for your viewing pleasure here is a titanium bottom bracket i destroyed last week while chucking myself down a stair set.

Here's a pic of mine when it was still brand new
And to be fair, its still in pretty much the same condition, . Not been ridden properly for atleast a year. My mate has just swapped his yz-125 for a Specialized SX Trail 2, so I'm hoping to do some proper biking this summer.
