How many different types of mk1 grilles are there (assuming the ones with the moustache' are mk1s) because there are ones with long moustaches and ones with short ones, i was quite confused and would like to know which grille is the one with a short moustache? Is it the cooper?

Same grill mate, the long moustache sections fit onto the end of the grill surround. Most people don't fit them however.

I thikn the ones with short moustaches have been cut because of large arches or somethin else that will get in the way. I think the standard mk1 grilles have the long moustache.
But my opinion on mk1 grills is that they look great, if i could be ar***d to put the effort in an convert to mk1 i'd be there in a flash. :wink:

ahaaa, that's ace.. now.. second question - Can you fit and mk1 grille to a later mini? If not, what modifications and how easy are they ?

you will need to take the lip off the bonnet. Not too hard a job, just gotta split a few spot welds, however some paint will be needed.

Done it to mine and its turned out ok. the moustache was a bit expensive though!

I've just got a Mk1 grille surround re-chromed, £40!!! luckily the surround didn't cost me anything. Still need to get my hands on a grille tho.. they look awesom!
