Plus the boot is the most secure area of a mini so he'd have a job getting in anyway...

They battery cut-off is good - does exactly the same job as a battery cut-off switch; the thin bypass is for, eg: keeping settings on the radio.

I would like a nice decent alarm though, so that if anyone does have a go, then I know about it.

The dis-car-nect would put the medicure (not opportunist but not quite made it big time - dya like my description?) thief off because he wouldn't think to look in the boot of the car when the engine don't start...

that means he's either shagged your lock, smashed your window and most prob broken your steering lock at this point.

and with the frustration of not being able to get the car started there's every chance he would just total it... it happened to a Nissan almera (500 miles at the time)on our drive.

go simple... buy a clifford alarm.. its pretty clear to see who has a clifford alarm fitted (big blue flashing light, chirping as they approach the car) and they really are a pain to disconnect as all the wires are the same colour >_<
thats your visual, then put the window film over the windows, and then possibly the dis-car-nect as well.

by this time.. the guy has made a lot of noise getting into the car.. with trying to smash the window, finally gets in with a 110db alarm going off... hes not going to want to hang around long. He cant get it started. He isnt going to hang around with that alarm going off.. so hes gone.

All you have for damage is a smashed window.. (which is stuck together) and not much mess. Possibly a few marks on your seats where the guy has sat down... but minimal damage.

good idea. i think you can add extra sirens on the clifford alarm, fitting one inside the car somewhere like under the dash will make sure that the theives ears are ringing. some of the sirens make you disorientated as well, therefore slowing the theif down. i'd rather have a broken window and/or a busted door lock than an empty space on my drive or in my parking space at work.

yep you can add extra alarms... with a mini the bulk head is quite thin so its ear piercing inside the car anyway. Its certainly not comfortable to be sat in the car whilst its going off.
Is another way.....
