hi guys im currently racking my brain on what engine conversion to do! bassically i want decent power around 130-140 and more importantly torque.. iv got a very good 1380short motor ready for anything really. iv started doing this k1100 16v rs head conversion but im wanting to keep it a little more mini!! so i think i'l use that for somthing else. but i theres loads of stuff out there like supercharged, turbo'd, 8port, kad 16v, k1100 16v the list goes on.. just can weigh up which to go for so any helpfull insite would be great.
the reason im drawn to the 7 port is that its a straight forward bolt on piece of *yellow human water* conversion, etc.. its just a tad bit on the expensive side. dont get me wrong i dont mind paying it it just i dont know anyone who has one? is that because there C**p? or because there too expensive or perhaps boasting power that they dont give!? so if you can give me any knowledge on them that would be greatly appreciated

surely the 8port is not amore than alittle more expensive, in comparison to the 7port, its way more complicated and involves far more custom made parts.

edit:probs makes more sense now

8port, differant (more expensive rockers)
either offset crank, or remove part of the con rods to clear the special cam
more expensive exhaust..
its alot more expensive to do but your right is it worth all the extra expence mate?

i dont know cant make my mind up!!! lol

How much have you got to spend on the engine, 8 port is the best for torque and acceleration, but then you need a good cam, than a good dizzy, and than ect ect ect, you will have to make your mind up.................. :D

i think you've covered most of them. I would say that you can do pretty well with a 7port and the jump to 8port gives you MUCH less bang for your buck. I think if you spent half the diference between 7port and 8port, you have yourself some webers, mega jolt and a few other fancy bits, maybe even something towards your gearbox so stick with the 7port.

if you're after 130hp and bags of torque then a turbo would be the sensible option. my old one used to run 135hp and 165 lb/ft and that was a fairly standard engine, would cost a lot less than £4500 to build aswell.
