Hi,

After Christmas, I'll be making arrangements to get my suspension and steering aligned. I was going to book it into a specialist with one of those four wheel alignment jigs. Then I came across this on Minispares' website...

Minispares TOOL10

and this

Minispares TOOL11

Does anyone have any experience of using these tools? If so, are they any good? I suspect a full line-up on a jig could cost as much as these two together, so it may be worth considering.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend an alignment specialist in the South Essex area?

Thanks in advance,

Kwack

Yep, I have both of those tools and to be honest I wasn't THAT impressed. The castor/camber tool is decent enough, pretty easy to use and I'm sure you could get fairly accurate settings with it. But the tracking tool I found was not that great. The upright parts of the tool I found could be slightly bent, which would lead to fairly inaccurate readings. For all the trouble it costs to have tracking set up I'd just spend a tenner down at a local tyre fitters.

If I was looking at pin point accurate settings for track/race use, I would rely on these tools.

Many thanks for the replies. I may well get the caster / camber tool then as I'm sure I'll always be able to put it to good use. I'll probably stick with my tried and tested tracking tools (four house bricks, two planks of wood and a tape measure) for the time being!

Yeah i do the full 4-wheel alignment, camber, castor, fronts and back!
corner weights too if wanted...

those minispares tools are very basic - and kinda work, but a bit of a pain to use...

Thanks for the offer though Essex to Northampton (assuming you're still based there) would be a bit of a trek! That said, I might take you up on it if there's nowhere closer that gets a recommendation!

Happy Christmas all!

Kwack
