my rally car has a part time problem with the clutch, it doesnt happen at particular times, its completely random.
basicly when im driving along the biting point changes, normaly its quite near the top and its fine, disengages fully and doesnt crunch going into gear (well as much as a dogbox does eh lol) but through out the course if driving sometimes the bite point just sinks to almost the floor, can change gear because its a dogbox can still do clutchless changes but when i come to stop say at lights i cant dip the clutch so it ends up stalling
its not always as bad as it stalls, sometimes it partly disengages and just ends up slipping the clutch enough, drops the revs so i pull my hydralulic handbrake so i can stop on the spot dip the clutch and keep the revs up lol

soooo what can it be, how can it be fixed, it a bummed slave cylinder?

Thanks in advance David.

First thing to change is the hydraulic hose to the slave cylinder. These can break up inside and start to restrict the flow.

Tried bleeding it yet?

Start simple, go from there. Good adjusting might help too.

if it works at times, wouldnt think bleeding it would help, the moisure bubbles inside cant exactly disapear :S at least i shouldnt think so!

Well would you rather try the idea that cost £5 or replace a load of C**p and still do the £5 thing as well?

More likely to be the master cylinder. Check the push rods for fluid and if you can open the bonnet when the clutch gives out to see what the operating arm is up to.

I had a similar thing happen to me, i thought it was my slave cylinder but it turned out it was the thrust bearing on the bottom of the arm had collasped, get the engine running and press the clutch and try and listen for a rattling/scrapping metal noise, if this happens i would be pretty certain thats your problem

thing is about that, with straight cut gears they rattle when no load is put on them as there alloud to free wheel about on the shaft

Well if you bleed the clutch cylinder and check thats working properlly make sure the arm is moving correctly,THEN if all is present and correctly working then i would dismantle the end of the clutch housing, then check the thrust bearing.....

Would help to know what type of clutch it is, otherwise any suggestions are purely speculative.

The two clutch types work in different ways and suffer from different problems.
