drive it auto...or sell it!

I have a good metro 1275 complete engine (3.44 fd, 9.75:1cr) -cylinder head - £120
they can and do come up, just got to be watching.
read the above replies again, it really not going to be worth trying to do anything, unless you are a pretty hot engineer (but as your asking im assuming not yet).

;D

There are 'some' 1275 auto's which can be changed, without too much hassle...

I can't remember exactly what it was that the chap who did this before had to do to make it work but there was definitely some oil way drilling. I think you'll find that under that plate is where the two supply oil drillings that feed the main gallery have to meet as they are at different angles. There is some reason that it won't accept a standard filter head directly there but I can't remember what. Is there not also an extra drilling out of the oil pump housing for supplying the low pressure pump to deal with? Or was that only on early autos? I may go off and search for the thread now.

In any case it won't just fit directly onto a manual box.

Correct, they wont fit directly on because the oil feed for the engine comes from the gearbox into the block directly below where the oil filter should fit on the manual. So there's a hole in the block which needs to be plugged, and the filter section drilled and tapped... This is all ( as far as I'm aware ) which needs to be done
