I'm going for the 12c spray gun from machinemart for my 2hp compressor.Check out their website, it's only £20. I'm not sure whether to use it for the whole respray and then get or borrow a better gun for the final coat or use it for everythin but I'm sure the finish will be good enough for atleast primer.Im after a spray gun basicaly just for primer, dont want anything to flashy but that will do the job well.

Isn't primer pourous? And thus would just hold water against the bodywork causing it to rust faster? It wont be doing any colour at all, its basicaly just to get primer on as it may have to be stored out side for a week or two.

I might be wrong, but I'd rather bring it up and save you finding out the hard way.

I've been using a 1.4 tip in my gun for everything - should I get a 1.6 for primer ? is this why I'm having to thin it down more than feels necessary?
A 1.4 should be fine for primer, but a 1.6 would be even better and would require less thinning.
