my lights wont work, indicators and breaks are working, but front and back lights arent? checked the fuses there fine, so what else could be wrong?
also im going to buy some plastic so i can make a shield like some of you other guys have, where do i tie this to when i attach it to the engine or whatever?
thanks

personally i find that the standard late model shields are major over kill, all you really need is a small shield behind the grille as fitted to earlier cars.
you can see my home made shield in this pic of my car when it was stripped down a bit. this is actually made from the original shield and screwed to the front panel over the distributor. i have never had any trouble when using this system (but then i may just be lucky)

i would guess the switch but the only way to tell is get a voltage tester out and trace the power in the circuit

As above? Is it your sidelights that are off? Check the bottom fuse in the fusebox and make sure the connections are ok.
Also, i didnt know his, but on the black mini i sold, the lad who bought it said the lights went off, turned out to be a blown fuse, hidden behind the speedo clocks. He said there was 2, but i never experienced having fuses there. worth a check

I was sat in the shed, thinking of you.......nah only kidding. i was getting some paint in to re-decorate. When i was going through the shed, i found a dizzy sheild.
Its shaped and fits behind the grill infront of the dizzy. 2 screws or a couple of tie wraps and its in place.
Send me your address and ill post it down to ya.

wel after spending 4 hours in these arctic conditions with my dad i have just read that Dave would have come to help me and Jordie has a shield already made! bloody marvellous ey!!
wel my dad checked all the fuses for my lights and then by chance he just tested to see if they wer working and they all came on! bad earth maybe, but ther working for the time being!
managed to put a rubber glove over the dizzy like a lot of you guys have done that only took about 20million hours, what a bloody faff!!
then i managed to get some bendy plastic from my dads mate to make a shield see if this helps the car stop getting damp.
here are some pics below, can you just tell me if this is ok and if im blocking anything im not meant to?
need to take it back off and move some wires as well, cant believe how many bloody wires ther are!
also the screws that hold my grill on might as well not be there, need some bigger ones i think!
anyway thanks for your help again!
Ps. Jordie, its nice to know im thought of, even if u are sat in a shed haha!

That is pretty much similar to the later sheilds fitted to the minis. Only problem is removing it all time to do any sort of jobs.
