Woah, you must live in a really high risk area or you are hoping to insure a 1380 road monster? If it's just a 998 you need to be looking elsewhere for quotes!

I assume you doctored your date of birth to make you 17 for the quotes? Stupid question probably...

At 17 you really have to just get quotes everywhere, and you can pretty much forget about agreed valuation or classic policies - best to go for standard insurance.

Tesco
Direct Line
Churchill (if they do new drivers)
Confused.com
Elephant

The list goes on... Literally try everyone!!

Also be prepared for high excesses. Best to pay a bit more and have the voluntary excess at zero, because compulsory could be anywhere around £500 :-

If it is going to be primarily your car then make sure you insure it in your name, but you may find if you add one/both parents on to the insurance as named drivers (assuming they have cleanish records themselves) it could bring the premium down. I'm 22 with 2 yrs NCB and I still save money on my Fiesta insurance by adding both parents!

:-

You need to go on moneysupermarket.com or confused.com - or seriously check over the details you're putting in!

Try C I S (cooperative insurance) They used to be good with new and young drivers when i was 18 i insured my metro turbo for a around £600 that was 13 years ago though and when i was 19 i had a escort rs turbo and me thinks it was around £1100 with them everywere else was really high for both cars if i remember the highest was £2500 for the metro And around 4k for the escort :-

Totally agree with Lisa on this, I tried more specialist insurers like Adrian Flux when I bought my mini and I was getting stupid quotes :) but with those online sites that compare loads I managed to get much cheaper quotes and adding my mum under my name lowered my quotes further :- you might notice with those price comparison sites is that if you keep trying the exact same search with them that you can find cheaper quotes from the same company. I did that (can't remember why) but started off with £320ish (fully comp) quote and then it went down a few times til I got £295 *shrug* haven't a clue why it did that but hey, saved me some monies :-

thats fairly normal quote for someone your age. just remember that the quote there is for a completely standard mini. Worth trying liverpool victoria (www.lv.com), as theyre quite reasonable.

yep. my quotes were around that for a standard mini.

bewarned if you have mods tho. i was going to get my insurance the night before i drove down with me dad to pick it up, when i called around and said the word alloys, then they either wouldnt insure me or said £2500+! i shat myself! tried everyone until i was scraping the depths of my mind trying to think of insurers. last one i thought of was admiral - £1500 inc. mods so went with them.

have you got any mods on yours?

But but but but........ :-

If you have mods and don't tell the insurance company then you may find in the event of an accident they will not pay out :-

As if you make a misdeclaration on your insurance then said insurance is technically invalid. So you will be paying over £1000 for nothing, basically.

:)

that is a very good point. but to be honest, i think my insurance company only know ive got alloys...in reality ive also got a stage 1 kit, dtm exhaust and a smart looking brand new interior (which i thinks still counts as a mod)

i guess im just gonna have to not crash :)
