At 17 you really have to just get quotes everywhere, and you can pretty much forget about agreed valuation or classic policies - best to go for standard insurance.
Tesco
Direct Line
Churchill (if they do new drivers)
Confused.com
Elephant
The list goes on... Literally try everyone!!
Also be prepared for high excesses. Best to pay a bit more and have the voluntary excess at zero, because compulsory could be anywhere around £500
If it is going to be primarily your car then make sure you insure it in your name, but you may find if you add one/both parents on to the insurance as named drivers (assuming they have cleanish records themselves) it could bring the premium down. I'm 22 with 2 yrs NCB and I still save money on my Fiesta insurance by adding both parents!

You need to go on moneysupermarket.com or confused.com - or seriously check over the details you're putting in!

bewarned if you have mods tho. i was going to get my insurance the night before i drove down with me dad to pick it up, when i called around and said the word alloys, then they either wouldnt insure me or said £2500+! i shat myself! tried everyone until i was scraping the depths of my mind trying to think of insurers. last one i thought of was admiral - £1500 inc. mods so went with them.
have you got any mods on yours?

If you have mods and don't tell the insurance company then you may find in the event of an accident they will not pay out
As if you make a misdeclaration on your insurance then said insurance is technically invalid. So you will be paying over £1000 for nothing, basically.

that is a very good point. but to be honest, i think my insurance company only know ive got alloys...in reality ive also got a stage 1 kit, dtm exhaust and a smart looking brand new interior (which i thinks still counts as a mod)
i guess im just gonna have to not crash
