My mini came with the doors but they weren't attached. They just have the hinges with the threads on them. What I want to know is when fixing them to the car, what needs to go the other side? I don't want to just put nuts on as they will just pull through the metal eventually and fall off. Is it a case of just using big old washers or is there a specific part used on minis that I need to get?

just some washers
you might also need some shims between the hinge and the hinge panel to put the door in the middle of the hole

They originaly had some farily thick oval plates that fitted over the studs: minispares part number ALA6381.
They also used alloy shims as mentioned above, but I don't know if these are available any more....

Thanks for that Macfoot! Just what I was looking for it seems. I went to see someone I know who does mini restoration for a living, he gave me something similar to this as a template so I will just fabricate some out of a bit of steel.
