ive been three times before, but two of them times in a more or less brand new MPI, and the third time in a non-mini. this year im taking the minivan, but eventhough it seems reliable enough i cant help but worry its not going to make it. the final drive is nice now though, meaning i can more or less idle at 70mph, and so long as i dont get tempted to thrape it, it should be ok.
not sure if the other two carb minis coming with me have the same semi confidence.
Ive got loadsa spares, and am taking my entire tool collection short of the engine crane and welder!. the way i see it, whats the worst that can happen!
im travelling down from leicester. if anybody sees the matt black minivan in the hard shoulder give us a wave!
would be cool to put faces to names for some of you lot, but when it comes to it, im too shy everytime!
roll on saturday!, may the force be with you all

AA and RAC refuse to tow you home, your stuck there till some nice (but strange) guy called "dog" can give you a lift home on the saturday and you then have to figure out how much and who is going to get your mini home!
That was my fun trip to Newquay 2007.
I swear I gave up saying goodbye to people in the end. I left to go home about 5 times. Everytime I ended up staying because either RAC wouldnt do it, AA wouldnt do it, The trains werent running or something else. I got myself truely stranded!

Last time I was at the Riv Run, I helped Clem (from minifinty) do a headgasket... Flippy was running round trying to find an engine steady bar, and I was trying to find some exhaust pieces.
This year I'm not in a mini, the car's not ready, and when it is I wouldn't trust it to get to work in (6 miles from home)....but I'm going to try to drive to Newquay.... (330 miles)
It's all shaping up to be a good adventure.

Was that the year he tried checking his compression with his thumb and then took the head off when it was still warm?

I think so Duncan.... I seem to remember those being some of the reasons you and Sy avoided the situation like the plague!!!
For once you two weren't the ones fixing the broken car!

That was the one...! Doing tappet clearances with a piece of thin card. I was there with Carl Tuck (speedjunkie from minifinity), haven't seen him in ages since he moved. With a fair bit of luck I should see you there (though don't know what I'll be in!!!!)
