Hi, Sorry if this has already been covered but I couldnt find an answer. The other day I accidently put my lights on full beam whilst they were selected to
side lights, this caused a buzzing noise from behind my dashboard, as a result the only lights that now work are my side lights and full beam but nothing when I select dipped. Any Ideas????
Buzzing Behind Dash, Then No Lights!

Stab in the dark but you could try replacing the fuse, it may have blown.

Buzzing might indicate a live wire has come loose and is shorting somewhere?

That's the headlamp relay it will need replacing.
A fairly universal bit found on other models to help you track one down.

Yeah that's the Dim Dip relay, I though it would be that but not knowing whether the car had one or not made it hard to say! Thanks for getting back to us.
Firstly, try smacking the relay hard. That often frees it up, if not it will need replacing. New ones are around £20.00 but as Ethel says it was fitted to all Rover products between 1988 and 1996 so you should be able to find one at a local scrappy. You can bypass it if you like but it's better to keep it as it does quite a useful thing.

Yep, £22.17 + p&p (less discount) from MiniSpares. Not cheap but then there's a lot going on inside them I suppose!
I might have a couple hanging around the garage though - PM me if you need one after trying the bashing exercise recommended.
