4bhp is about 10%, so fitting a stage one is another 10% and a cam, thats another 10%. increasing the compression ratio could be another 10%. Theoreticaly. Looking at one mod on its own does look dissapointing, but all the mods should compliment each other, and thats when you see the benefits.

Its a 998, it will never be 1275 power unless you spend some money

Fitting a 12g940 head on a 998 is like fitting a gas flowed 998 head, difference is its cheaper. Grass trackers are restricted on cams, along with whatever other regulation restrictions.

998s do not like high lift, so fit a decent mildish cam, SW5 is popular, but my personal choice would be the Kent 274SP. That with the 1275 head and a compression ratio of 11:1 would be a rocket motor :D

Mmm..thanks Sprocket...Got me thinking again.....The thing is that I really like 998's and yes I can see how all minor gains add up to a decent package.
How does one secure a CR of 11.1 in skimming terms etc.

Thanks for your trouble.

As sprocket said, all the mods should compliment each other and in turn give a lor more than 4bhp extra.

sprocket has suggested a set up, mine would be more

998 block (pocketed)
12G940 head
Kent 286 cam
and possibly 10.5:1 CR

Sprocket there is a PM heading your way reguaring your opinion on a similar setup.
