Thanks, some positive responses there, i can see what youre saying, about how annoying it would be. But to be fair there is no dropped kerb there, so surely the bloke is breaking some rule when he enters his garage .. .. .. as he is mounting the kerb?
I am going to appeal tomorow, apparently i can go the the council office to do this ?

Thanks, Ceri

He might be breaking a rule but they could turn around and say thats none of your business.

Even so, it's ridiculous how they've towed it away.

Bloody ridiculous!
It's a dropped curb. And if there isin't proper signage they have no right to tow it away.

How can the owner have the heart to get people to tow away a mini :proud:

This might not have had anything to do with the house owner!
Could have just been a board trafic warden!!

I say appeal it. A fine is ok, but over £100 as they towed it is well out of order!

I have looked at the photograph and if the ticket was for "unecessary obstruction" it think you may well have a case. I appreciate the council towed the car, however it may have been at the instruction of the police. If the ticket was issued by the police you can ring or write a letter to the relevant Central ticket office and explain.

It is worth pointing out re the dropped curb and the fact that access to the garage ws not obstucted to a carful and compotent driver.

Again you are not appealing against the tickit being issued you are merely trying to give full circumstances to the CTO in an attmempt to get the ticket voided. once voided you can them claim back the money you paid to get your car released.

To appela against a normal police issued parking ticket you simply dont pay it (having notified the CTO) and await a summons for court, then state not guilty and attend court. be warned that if found guilty (police ticket only) then you will be laible to a double fine £30 paid now £60 plus asscoicated court costs. estimate £70 - £150

If it was issued by the council parkinig wardens etc then im sorry but dont know the score on that one.

At the end of the day you were the only one who can honestly hand on heart say if you were casuing an obstruction. If you were so be it you were caught, if not then follow the procedure above

Cheers

I think they have to photograph it before it is toed away so you would have that as evidence you were not blocking..

Umm is that yellow cone supposed to be there?

Ouch!!

Those peeps obviously get so many people blocking their drive/garages, so they prob get fed up with it and take that action. They should get markings though. If I was you I would do as the stig says and appeal, you might as well, if you dont get anywhere then just pay the fine and learn your lesson

Damn annoying though. The other day I was walking back to my car and couldnt find it for AGES. Had me and my mate worried for ages, I actually thought it had been taken away :dontgetit:

And I had some random man knocking at my door yesterday, after pulling up in a white transit van and eyeing up and pointing to monty. I never did find out what he wanted because I was too chicken to open the door ;)

I got a ticket today too, for causing an obstruction or something to that effect. Thing is I was parked on an area that was clearly marked as not an urban clearway, has no parking restrictions and I wasn't obstructing anything. It was a single carriageway road leading off a cinema complex that was wide enough for about 2 and a half lanes. The lorry parked behind me didn't get a ticket, though he was obstructing the pavement and still sticking out further into the road than me.

I've photographed the scene and will be appealing the fine, I'm pretty confident that I won't have to pay it as it's a complete joke!

I was parked in a street that had no yellow lines, just a small sign at the end saying "Parking Permit Holders Only". The road is about 200m long, easily wide enough to take two large vans side by side - I was on the only vehicle parked on the street and I got a fine for "parking in a Resident's parking space". If it was me paying the fine I'd appeal it on the grounds that it isn't a residents parking space as it isn't marked out as such!
