Morning Geniuses of the Miniverse.

On impulse I purchased what seems to be a brandless Mpi induction kit at Bingley on Sunday.
It has no instructions, no markings, no nowt. >_<

In the box:
1 X air filter in housing
2 X hoses
1 X L-shaped bracket
2 X Cable ties
1 X huge jubilee clip

It looks very similar to the K&N 57i. Do you reckon I could just follow the K&N instructions, and bodge it on?

Is there anything I need to watch out for once I've taken her current filter thingy off?

Any hints or tips would be much appreciated.

Ta

Should be fairly simple. You cant really go wrong when fitting an air filter, but the same instructions for the K&N 57i will be ok to use. If its anything like the K&N with the jubilee clip that holdes it down, just make sure that the air filter housing is on firmly and dont over tighten it (or it may pop off under heavy vibration)
If you need instructions I can post up a copy of my K&N 57i.

I have the instructions, ta Bevan. How tricky was it to get the hoses on?
Do you have any pics of your engine bay so I could see what it's supposed to look like, please?

My hoses dont attach onto anything, just cable tied down and near the air filter.

Yer, thats al that came in the kit. Maybe its because I have single point injection, and the multi point may need more air? dunno, just a thought.

Actually there is a thread on here about those air feed hoses. I am of the opinion that they don't really do anything when used like that, you need a ram air feed to really make any difference. I have the same K&N induction kit as Bevan but I left off the two air feeds. Not had any problems with it at all. Just make sure you get the throttle cable to sit in the new housing so that it is tight but not tugging on the throttle/butterfly valve. If the valve cannot return to its original position then your idle will be higher than normal.

Thanks Dirty Boy.
I'll bung my hoses on to start with because they're nice & silver & shiny, and then if they rattle around too much or just look plain sh*te, then I'll take 'em oorff again.

I'd check with Sprocket or some other injection guru, doesn't the injection filter casing include an injection system sensor?

Hmmm. Looks like it does? Is the MAP sensor actually in the casing? >_<

Ackchewlee, reading further, the MAP sensor is mounted directly on the inlet manifold & the intake air temp sensor is on the side of he manifold. >_<

I had the air temp sensor in mind, the Manifold pressure sensor would be in the manifold surely? - could just be a bit of a misnoma. The idle air control valve could also be an issue, but looking at the piccy I can't really see where it draws fresh air from.

Should be obvious enough when you take the casing off.
