It sounds like your car has been given loads of care and spoilt with extras.

i need to check this but i believe that cooper sports have a light blue engine head. i will speak to a friend who has one. if you take the oil filler cap off you should also see a set of gold rockers and double springs. if it is a cooper sport you should have some documentation from john cooper garages to say it is a proper cooper sport

As standard the Cooper Sport has the standard cylinder head and not a coloured one.

I think that the car you're talking about probably has a conversion kit added as an aftermarket or is a cooper si edition.

There is no such thing as a Rover Mini Cooper Sport. There is a Cooper Sport 500 which was a special edition in 2000. There are also Sportspack cars which have 13" wheels, a different steering rack, wide wheel arches, rear wheel spacers and NOTHING ELSE DIFFERENT ABOUT THEM. There are no colour or trim changes as part of the Sportspack. Your car is whatever the V5 says it is and they do include special edition names on the V5, this simply sounds like an insurance company mistake. It is entirely possible that a previous owner has fitted the 13" wheels. If the sportspack is original to your car then the rear wheels will have a Rover 6mm spacer fitted behind them, and your steering won't turn as far as a normal Mini's. Also the trimming to the wings under the front arch extensions will be very professionally done using a very good quality template, if it's been done DIY then it will be obvious. Also somewhere inside the arch extensions on genuine sportspack arches there is a BL roundel cast into the rubber.

The blue cylinder head is a sign of a John Cooper Garages conversion, but if it was one of these there would be an identity plate rivetted to the crossmember beside the drivers seat.

The only thing which is a little odd here is that the Coopr Sport 500 did have a Momo gearknob. Maybe someone tried to replicate a Sport 500 SE.

Sorry Dan but you're wrong! I know because I have one! however I do agree that maybe MINImiser's insurance company have his car listed as the incorrect model.

The Cooper Sport was the identical spec but didn't have the 500 le plaque.

You can check this by looking on a insurance web site as it lists a 2000 Cooper Sport and a 2000 Cooper Sport 500.

Have you got a pic of your gear knob MINImiser as mine doesnt mention the Mono name on the gear knob.

Yeah your gear stick is aftermarket MINImiser.

I think you're sportspack is genuine fit but your insurance company have the incorrect car model noted with it being within the same age era as the CS.

by the way all Rover Mini's from 1997 when the mpi was introduced have the same steering column with the airbag compared to prior years.

Would it be possible 4 you guys/gals to post pics of genuine sportspack parts in detail, because i want to see if mine is factory fitted or not as the case may be!

you could try asking tonymini man who has a 2000 cooper s, and is a bit of an expert on them

if yours has the full leather trim then it is just a sport pack cooper unless you have a john cooper cert to say other wise. yous has just been specked up a bit with extra lights etc. Insurance companies get very confused with the later cars, i have a 1998 mpi with out the sportpack but some insurance companies said that this wasnt on their system. also some call the sportspack kitted cars cooper sports to distinguish between sport pack fitted cars and normal ones like mine.

Oct 2000 'X' Rover Cooper Sport (NOT 500).
Sportspack Arches.
13" Sportspack Wheels.
Silver Roof and Silver Bonnet Stripes.
Black and Silver leather seats.
Silver dash.

The V5 states that it is a Cooper Sport and so does the Insurance Company.

I don't believe yours is a Cooper Sport. I reckon it's a Cooper with extras.
