www.idlegear.co.uk can do custom decals for classic mini however it is p.o.a but hopefully shouldn't be that expensive for plain black vinyl hope this helps!

i think he means vinyl as in like leather cloth not vinyl as in vinyl decals.
about the best thing to use to get it off is a heat gun to soften the glue, if its been on for years the glue usually goes off (degrades)
it will cost a fair bit to have one made up by a upholsterer using the correct grade vinyl.

Try and use evo-stik glue remover you can purchase it fron a builders merchant.......good luck......................

hope i was enough help i have woked for a sign industry and also note that a spatula (for appyling vinyl) will work for removing the vinyl as welll please note that taking your time will help as well by he way what did you make of the idle graphic website?

VINYL - but think the spelling has been settled 
Don't want to be pedantic ( though it's hard to resist
) it will also help your googling. I'd look at heat as a last resort - vinyl is a thermo plastic and will stretch - find a solvent for the glue and consider using something like gaffer tape on the top surface to try and stop it stretching or ripping if you are intent on keeping the original. you may want to consider what you gain by removing it as well! I'm not a fan of of vinyl roofs, they're just a way to trap water, but I do appreciate you want to keep the car original. You could look at the vinyl wrapping stuff graphics companies use or even crackle finish paints - if it's in good knick it might even be possible to take a moulding off it in resin.

Some of you seem confused,... It's not a vinyl sticker,.. it's a sheet of Vinyl material,.. or leatherette as some call it. Idelgear will definatley not be able to help with this. they make stickers.
You will not find one new either, it will have to be made for you. Bromsgrove auto trimmers will make one for you and it will cost approximately 150 spondoolies,.. over 200 if you want them to fit it for you. They are generally made up of 3 pieces of material, sides and a middle piece,.. they are sewn up to give a seam on each side of the roof
For pictures of A Vinyl roof,.. see my FAQ guide on fitting a Bee-sting ariel,.. Pictures there should give you an idea of what it is.
Not impossible to make one yourself... you might be able to get a 'emalee' off here to sell you enough material,..
