Hi.

Need some help pls!

The chap i bought my mini off must have had a few people that didn't like him to much because the roof was used as a bouncy castle by a load of little *not very nice people* and is now very dented. he managed to push the panel out but as you can imagine it's pretty bad.

i need to know the best way of sortin this. the only way i can think is to cut it out around the seams and welding a new roof skin in (for obvious reasons i don't want to have to do this but i can't see any other option)

does anyone else have any ideas or have an old mini that i can get the roof off saving me money on a brand new skin.

Cheers for any help.
Si

The same was done to my roof, it took me about 10-12 hours to get mine sorted

I repaired it as best as possible with my shrinking hammer and dolly to get the roof back to a normal kind of shape then i smoothed it off with s wee tad of filler....

This is it in the filler stage

Another shot in the filler stage

and then i painted it in Gloss Black as it's the easiest colour to see any ripples etc in...

looks pretty good mate. i take it you've had no trouble with it since you've done it. i just hate the thought of all that filler on such a flexible panel.

looks like i might be doin the same i reckon.

mine had a sunroof, so tried welding a panel in and then reailsed the filler would be about 1" thick in places as the roof had distorted.

luckily the bodyshop i was working with on the mini pulled some strings and i managed to get a genuine rover roofskin from curley fibreglass, which had been used as their mold!!

then the nice guys at full circle bodyshop put 250 spot welds on it when the fitted it :)

tis not a nice job and most bodyshops shy away as a lot of time is needed to be spent on it!

good luck with it tho :)
