Recently been having a problem with my immobiliser.
It's the standard Lucas 5AS (with 3TXA fob) on my Rover Mini Sidewalk.

When I'm out of the car, all doors locked, the LED blinks, then before after I changed the fob batery I pressed the right button around 8 times, and the started flashing, then I unlocked the door and pressed the other button a few times, and it turned off. So I could start it.

But now the buttons seem to do nothing. I've had the unit apart and had a look for a false connection, but they all seem fine (my mate's dad checked it.)
Before the alarm used to go off everytime the oor was opened past that 'click' point, but now when the door is wide open the LED just stays on.

I've tried alsorts, and pressing both fob buttons a lot doesn't seem to do much either..

Help?!

Have you got the other fob? If so, try that.

My fob fell apart when I changed the battery yesterday, but I shove the circuit board back in & wiped all the connections & it was fine.

Stupid question, but, have you got the battery in the right way round? Did you discharge all the power when you changed the battery?

Have you reset the fob? (Press unlock at least five times consecutively)

I only have th one fob, and the buttons have worn out, So which one is which?

The battery is in the right way. After I changed it, I re-sync'd it and it was working fine.
Then recently I fitted a tacho', and it still worked after that, until a few hours later when it just wouldn't do anything.

I've dosconnected the tacho' and it's still the same, and I've tried taking the batery out of the fob, pressing both buttons a few times, putting the battery back in and trying it, and still nothing when I try and sync' it again.

Yes, the LED lights up.
It blinks all the time, then when you either open the door or try to turn the ignition on it stays on (solid light)

Disconnect the battery for half an hour or so and reconect Dan, it resets the ECU and it might even solve your alarm problems.

Damn.
I don't have money to spend though.

If I did buy a new one, would I be able to program it myself? Or would I need to get a specalist to program it to the ECU?

Did you resynch it with the correct button?
Point the fob towards the car, keyring end in your hand & press the left button at least 5 times.
If you need a new fob then you'll need someone who can talk to ECUs.
