trying to find out the 'legal' 'mot' regulation for exhaust mounting.
Does the mounting at the rear, backbox section onto the rear subframe have to be mounted using a rubber mount or can it jus be bolted? or bolted with a rubber mount between the exhaust and the subframe? if that makes sense... it is a straight through centre exit pipe i have fitted...

The only MOT requirement is it must be secure, although if you just bolt it something will snap as exhausts should have some movement.

Hi
i have a centre exit exhaust attached to the subframe with a couple of nuts and bolts through a couple of rubber bushes, in fact they are bolted through the same type of rubber bushes that are used in the tie bars.
I have never had a problem thus far and deffinitly no probs with MOT.
Just remember to nut and bolt them loosely enough so the rubber has enough give to allow for thermal expansion of the exhaust.

you need something rubber there or you will break your exhaust and possibly subframe.

I make all my exhausts up and hang them in pig snout rubbers, i've neve had any problems like this.
